Operation Kitchen Declutter: Mission Complete

§ April 25th, 2011 § Filed under Home Organization, Operation Declutter, Our home § Tagged , , § 4 Comments

Last week, I finished decluttering 2 spaces in my home.  My laundry room and my kitchen.  It is amazing how it feels to walk into my kitchen knowing that a whole buncha junk isn’t hiding in the cabinets Smile. I donated several items and put a few in my storage closet to use in other areas of the house.  Welcome to my clutter free kitchen! My son bought me this sign several years ago on our first trip to NYC. Even my 5 year old was aware of my lack of cooking skills.

My mother in law always told me to keep only a few dishes, glasses, silverware, etc.  The more you have…the more you wash…I am finally taking that advice Smile  I put extra plates on the top – too hard to reach – but there in case we have guests. My dishwasher loves me now Winking smile And finally, my pantry is ORGANIZED!!!!!! It isn’t the dreamy pantry I long for..sniff, sniff…but I can actually find what I need! Makes it much easier to write out my grocery list.

It is not perfect, and it never will be with 2 boys in the house.  I didn’t purchase anything extra.  I used baskets and bins I already had in my kitchen or in other rooms.  Most were clearance items at my usual stores: Target, Hobby Lobby, Ross, Marshall’s, or dollar stores.  I will fancy it up one day, but I have too many other projects to cross off the list. Remember, shop in your home first, see what you have before you spend $$$$. Don’t be afraid to repurpose or reuse.

Happy Monday Smile

Jen
