Happy Thursday! Thursday has always been my favorite day of the week :) Hope you are having a great one. Today, I have a Living with Less update…the guest room closet reveal.
No, it’s not elaborately organized, but it is functional. The storage containers are filled with seasonal decorations and craft supplies. Glad to have these items all in one location.
I allowed myself one hour to sort through everything that was in the closet – keep or donate – the only options ;)
I kept one storage container (dust included), moved some items to the kitchen (yes, to be used), and the rest is waiting to be donated.
These frames will be used for the gallery wall/shelf. I have procrastinated on that project for way to long. It will get done :) Has anyone else been cleaning out/organizing..or at least attempting too?
Talk to you soon.
Hopefully, your New Year is off to a fantastic beginning!!! The start of a new year always brings new possibilities, new dreams, and new project lists for me. Lists, lists, lists…and storage containers. For years, my solution for clutter (a.k.a stuff) organization has been storage containers. My husband will get a good laugh out of this post ;) Throw it in a container, and BAM! its clean. Whatever! Out of sight, but not out of mind. Not my mind anyway.
Storage containers are useful. For things like camping gear, sports equipment, seasonal items (décor, clothes, shoes, etc.)…items that need to or should be stored.
Storage containers are not meant (in my opinion) for these items: I found on this clearance but really don’t have a place for it, 236 gifts bags, oh we may use that one day, WTH is this anyway…..you get my point ;)
My year will not be based around organization. I have organized stuff/junk/things for years! My year will be based on simplifying my life and home. Living with less in 2012 :)
I posted my guest room bedroom closet last week.
Since then, I moved everything from the closet OUT and into the bedroom.
Yes, that sofa is still in the room.
How many storage containers do you see?
The closet looks the way it did when we moved in 3 years ago.
I am slowly sorting through items to keep, donate, and/or makeover. I will keep you posted.
Last weekend I painted our guest bedroom. What a job!! Now I remember why I haven’t painted a room in about 8 years.
Painting is hard work.
Especially when I had to climb up and down the ladder.
Up and down..up and down.
My legs were sore for 3 days. Which is sad, because I actually work out 4 days a week at the gym.
I will blame it on old age.
Somewhat a similar angle of the room. The color is quite a bit darker.
I still have a loooong way to go before this room is guest ready.
Here are a couple of uh-oh spots.

Molding for this room may come sooner than later .
Happy Thursday! Which means tomorrow is Friday . Woo Hoo!
Today is actually woo hoo for me because I am finished with my college summer semester!
So, if you happen to be wondering why my number of posts dwindled, it is because school comes first.
Thank you to everyone who has continued reading my blog throughout my busy summer.
I am painting the guest bedroom! Remember this post? This room is in sad shape. I have it taped and ready for paint. Check out my $5 oops can .
Wish me luck! I haven’t painted a room since 2003..hahahaha! Crazy, right? I can’t wait to share with everyone. Hopefully no major mishaps .
I will share my cherry cobbler recipe with you on Monday.
Have a fantastic weekend!!!!
My initial plan was to be finished with my front entry spruce up by now. But thanks to the 100+ degree days in TX over the last several weeks, little work has be completed. Barely even started. So, along with searching for frames for my gallery wall, I am working on my guest bedroom. Currently, it looks like this
Sad. Bare. Worse than bare. This is our old bed. I bought the bed frame off Craigslist several years ago. Solid wood, great quality. Great condition. $250. Less quality beds at some furniture stores often cost more. Still very pleased with my deal. So, at least, I am not starting from scratch.
First order of business – talking G (my sweet husband) into moving this out of the room. Which means, we will have to take it apart again. For the 4th time. This baby has been moved all over our house. It has already been decided the current location is its last resting place. If our windows opened wide enough, I would throw it from the 2nd story. No joke.
Second order of business – new paint. This room was the playroom/movie room in its previous life. Boys sure can be disgusting. Gotta love ‘em .
So…along with my 5 million other projects, this room now has a spot on the list. Wish me luck!
