Motivation? Strange word. It hasn’t been part of my vocabulary for the last few weeks.
Where have I been?
In a slump. That’s where.
That is until my Little Z man brought this home from school.

His New Year’s Resolution art work. He told me being organized meant not leaving your mess everywhere. :)
Love that little guy! This reminded me of my Living with Less in 2012 motto.
Goodbye slump! My baking cabinet was happy to see me.

Some items didn’t belong in this space…like the Louisiana Crab Boil ;) I “shopped” in my house/kitchen for containers to use and also removed the spice rack.
Will it remain this neat and tidy? We shall see :)

I started Operation Declutter last week. I am still in the kitchen (not literally right now). I think I will be there for a couple of weeks or more! Raise you hand if you have a junk drawer in your kitchen. I am raising two hands because I have TWO junk drawers. Really, I mean really. This is sad. In my defense, I did try to organize both drawers in the beginning. But somehow odd things jumped into the drawers. It wasn’t me…I didn’t put all that stuff in there (;

I used to be a big time pack rat! I kept EVERYTHING. Over the years, we have owned 2 homes and lived in 5 rentals. Each time we moved I would part with things. I would donate to charity, have a garage sale, give to family, or trash it. After living in each of our new homes for a period of time, we would collect more STUFF! I have since change my ways (or at least improved) but I still need to declutter my home. That is my objective over the next year (maybe less..). I am taking on one room at a time. I have started in my kitchen. How many baking dishes, utensils, glasses, the list goes on, does a person need??? I mean really! I love all items that relate to cooking or eating (: but some have to go! I want my kitchen to be a happy place. I am only keeping items that make me smile! Everything else must go!!!!!!
Operation Declutter activated! My first stop – the silverware drawer.
Before:

It isn’t too cluttered, just a few things that don’t belong. But it was kind of gross…some sticky goop…YUCK!
