Motivation

Motivation? Strange word. It hasn’t been part of my vocabulary for the last few weeks.

Where have I been?

In a slump. That’s where.

That is until my Little Z man brought this home from school.

His New Year’s Resolution art work. He told me being organized meant not leaving your mess everywhere. :)

Love that little guy! This reminded me of my Living with Less in 2012 motto.

Goodbye slump! My baking cabinet was happy to see me.

Some items didn’t belong in this space…like the Louisiana Crab Boil ;)  I “shopped” in my house/kitchen for containers to use and also removed the spice rack.

Will it remain this neat and tidy? We shall see :)

Living with less

§ November 17th, 2011 § Filed under donation, Home Organization, Operation Declutter, organization § Tagged , , , § 2 Comments

My goal this year was to organize, donate, organize, live with less, donate some more.  I am proud to say that I continue to work on that goal.   Except…..my 3 month rule has spilled over to 6 months. School has kicked my butt this semester!  Nonetheless, I continue to find things to donate.  Things.  Why do we need so many things? I thought I would share the latest donation collection.

donation

Items are being added each day. My plan is to take the donations to a local charity/thrift store.  Local stores receive less donations than bigger named stores.  Not trying to persuade you, just giving my opinion. All donations, regardless of the organization, help someone in need.  The balls and a few other items will be donated to a local toy drive. I will share my final donation collection soon. From this point on, I will not buy an item unless I have a place to use it.  It will not, I repeat, will not be put in my storage closet.

Have a great weekend!

Find a few things to donate :)

Teacher Classroom Organization Part 2

§ June 21st, 2011 § Filed under miscellaneous, organization § Tagged , , § 3 Comments

Last week, I shared several dreamy classroom photos.  Part 2 is all about teacher desk/workspace organization.  If you are a teacher, then you definitely know how difficult it is to keep your area clutter free.  Is it even possible…??? On several occasions, the cluttered mess pushed me to the edge! I trashed every single piece of paper that was not of high importance.  I apologize to all those trees…but something had to be done! By the way, I do this at home too. My advice to anyone having clutter issues, sort and trash before you ever try to organize.  Sure makes me feel better.

These organization solutions can be used in the classroom, office, or your workspace at home.

Cookie sheets – how clever! These could be found at garage sales or the Goodwill.

Muffin tins would also work.

Spray paint them with your favorite color.

Great idea! Clipboards to hold lesson plans..?

Or use at home for homework, projects, etc.

Teacher Classroom Organization Part 1

§ June 16th, 2011 § Filed under Love It!, organization, Teachers § Tagged , , § 2 Comments

Mrs. Joyce, an elementary teacher and friend, asked if I could give her some ideas on organizing her classroom.  I had the privilege of working with her for several years.  What a wonderful lady, and one of a kind teacher! So, because it’s for you Mrs. Joyce, I am happy to do this post. I had to dig a bit for some ideas.  I never had a neat classroom.  I tried, but just not in my blood. My former teacher assistants – Sherry, Tina, and Edna – kept my classroom in order.  They would tell you the same.  It’s been several years since I have seen them – miss you all.

Searching for ideas has taken quite a while.  I decided to break it into sections.  Part 1 features dream classrooms.  Most teachers would drool over any of these beautiful spaces.

Make your workspace pretty :)

§ April 27th, 2011 § Filed under Before and After, miscellaneous, organization, spray paint § Tagged , , § 4 Comments

I taught elementary school for 6+ years Smile. I was never very organized.  My desk was never clean.  I always had to dig for staples, paperclips, etc. One of my teacher friends asked me for suggestions on organizing her classroom.  As I mentioned, I wasn’t very organized myself, but…I have picked up a few ideas while substituting for the last 2 years Smile .  This is a tray on my workstation at home.

The tray was on clearance at Walmart – $2.50.  Before it was red….

Now it’s black.  Spray paint you deserve a pat on the back Winking smile.  I used the leftover paint from the bed makeover.

The large vase $3 at Walmart, the small glass containers $1 at the Dollar Tree, the stapler was from my old classroom, and the notepad $4 at Marshalls.  Total cost:  around $12

If you don’t have a space for a big tray, you can use small containers inside drawers or on a bookshelf.  Use items that make you smile.  For me, when my desk/area looks pretty Smile it makes me happy.  Too bad it took so many years to figure that one out! I will be posting more organizing tips over the next several weeks.

Happy Hump Day!
