That title makes me sad. Where did the summer go? My little guy will be in 1st grade. My oldest in 6th grade. They grow up so fast.

I sure do love those two!
Have a fantastic weekend!

Unless you are originally from the deep South, or currently live there, you have probably never heard of boiled peanuts. Oh how I love them! Our weekend trips to the beach often included stopping by a produce stand – as long the stand had a sign that read “Hot, Boiled Peanuts”.

Like this one.

Definitely, a summer time tradition.
When we lived in NYC, I bought peanuts like these

Good, but just not the same.
Unfortunately, I can’t find them in TX. Or Louisiana. And since the closest roadside stand that sells them is over 8 hours away…I decided to make my own.

For those of you following my summer project, no front door update today. Next week I promise. Today was the last day of school for my boys. We are so super excited about summer!!! Maybe me more than them..?? I will miss volunteering in Little Z’s Kindergarten class. I was a elementary teacher for 6 years, and I have been a substitute for the last 2 years. This was the first year I could be involved as a parent, not a fellow teacher. So glad I had the opportunity. My little one impressed me this year! The biggest personal accomplishment for him – learning to read! I remember the sparkle in his eyes while he read his first book to me. *Tears* Yes, I am a sappy one! My 11 year old completed 5th grade – first year in middle school. Definitely a change! Together, we learned a lot over the last year!! I am starting to see a creative young man – as well as a leader. I am so proud to be their mom. So blessed that I was chosen for that role. They are my heart. Happy Friday and Happy Summer !!!!
